The idea of Flote Sulu is a product of guitarist and singer Hayden Ashdown who, after accumulating a sizeable portfolio of ideas, riffs, songs and home demos, recruited bassist Ben Baker and drummer Jonathan Stanger in early 2019.

Since then, Flote Sulu have performed extensively in popular music venues around Brighton, Hove and Worthing. The band has recorded a single, The Jackal, and has gained positive reviews in the local music press, like this one from Pure Grain Audio. Undeterred by the pandemic and by Ben's decision to leave Brighton, Flote Sulu are now back on Brighton's hottest stages with bassist Harrison Mortley, with their "hypnotic, stoner-infuenced post-rock" sound and incredible energy.
